Jones I want to talk about how 0:19 Elites and pundits have failed to shape 0:21 this narrative and effectively distract 0:23 either the left or the right now any 0:25 American watching this knows how 0:27 predatory our Healthcare System is 0:29 particularly are insurance companies and 0:31 maybe especially United Healthcare a 0:34 study in May found that United rejects 0:36 almost a third of all claims and often 0:39 for nonsense reasons for example UHC has 0:41 now deployed an AI to review elderly 0:43 patients claims an AI with a 90% error 0:47 rate often overriding those patients 0:49 actual doctors meanwhile the company 0:51 profited almost 22 billion just last 0:53 year now social media is anything to go 0:55 by after Luigi mangion allegedly 0:58 assassinated the company's CEO many 1:00 Americans saved their pity and have 1:01 continued to do so even after manion's 1:04 arrest there's still a lot we don't know 1:06 and are likely to learn about the supect 1:08 for one we don't know what exactly led 1:10 him to take such drastic action and 1:12 vigilante justice is pretty much never 1:15 the answer but as for the upper echelons 1:17 of American society it's been tense as 1:19 people online living paycheck to 1:21 paycheck half jokingly ask who's next 1:24 and for once money and blustering and 1:26 culture wars don't seem to be the answer 1:29 in fact all of those those tactics just 1:30 seem to exacerbate the issue like listen 1:33 to this toned deaf headline from the San 1:35 Francisco Chronicle earlier this week 1:36 the recent killing of United Healthcare 1:38 CEO Brian Thompson has brought renewed 1:40 attention to the rising costs of 1:43 protecting top Executives The Washington 1:46 Post did something similar 1:47 characterizing Thompson as the son of 1:49 smalltown Iowa who was sended to become 1:52 the CEO of United Healthcare appearing 1:54 to reach New Heights look it's really 1:56 difficult to turn the CEO of a predatory 1:58 company who made 10 million just last 2:01 year into some Everyman joeo that's just 2:05 not going to happen especially when 2:06 almost half of Americans can't afford 2:08 their medical bills partly to pay the 2:11 exorbitant salaries of guys like 2:13 Thompson now some people took a less 2:14 subtle approach with the damage control 2:16 like right-wing chuds Ben Shapiro and 2:18 Matt Walsh both of them condemned the 2:20 radical left for cheering on Thompson's 2:22 murder but their comment sections told a 2:24 different story thousands of people many 2:26 of which identified as right leaning 2:28 attacked Shapiro and wal for trying to 2:30 characterize this as a partisan or 2:32 left-wing issue and some even realize 2:35 that's the whole point as one commenter 2:37 so eloquently put it maybe I've been 2:39 wrong this entire time I don't think you 2:41 actually care about us I think you just 2:43 want our money I think you want us to 2:45 hate each other I didn't expect this to 2:48 be how so many people achieve class 2:50 Consciousness but hey I'm not mad about 2:52 it and then of course mixed into all of 2:54 this is the rights penchant for double 2:55 standards and racism remember Daniel 2:57 peny the guy who choked out a ment y ill 3:00 black man on the subway well he was 3:01 found not guilty of criminally negligent 3:03 homicide after a jury deadlock on his 3:05 manslaughter charge I wonder what Fox 3:07 News had to say about it the Instagram 3:10 post from nutbag people which I was sent 3:14 in the commercial break earlier crazy 3:17 like he's cute he's and people 3:20 celebrating this this is a sickness 3:22 honestly it's so disappointing but I 3:24 guess we shouldn't be surprised um 3:26 gentlemen thank you so much and up next 3:28 the other big news out of New York Dan 3:29 Daniel penny a lot of people think he's 3:31 a hero and tonight he's not guilty my 3:33 take next while millionaire media 3:35 Figures were lecturing the masses on why 3:37 they should mourn Brian Thompson they 3:39 simultaneously help justify another 3:42 man's death this tactic is pathetic to 3:44 say the least these Outlets are hoping 3:46 the audience's hatred of black people 3:48 will outweigh their scorn of the Rich 3:50 and while I'm sure that worked for at 3:51 least a few Fox viewers will it stick 3:53 the next time that viewer is paying a 3:55 hospital bill look whatever your opinion 3:57 on Thompson's murder is many American 4:00 lack of sympathy is something real 4:03 something we have to Grapple with many 4:05 of us have watched our loved ones die or 4:08 ourselves sat through years of pain 4:11 because companies like United Healthcare 4:13 won't cover medically necessary costs in 4:16 fact they often actively ignore 4:19 physician recommendations to help their 4:21 own bottom line and that's the real 4:23 problem here because my health shouldn't 4:25 be about your profit in this country we 4:28 call Ubers and instead of ambulances 4:31 take fish antibiotics instead of the 4:33 real thing and ignore obvious medical 4:36 issues because we fear bankruptcy more 4:39 and United Healthcare not only allows 4:41 that but it likes it all of those 4:44 sacrifices that you make that I make 4:47 that we all make are to help companies 4:49 like United profit $22 billion so maybe 4:53 instead of beefing up their security 4:55 teams these companies should put that 4:57 money towards not torturing their 4:59 customers because it's about damn time 5:01 these companies make a few Financial 5:03 sacrifices of Their Own
