Engadget is reporting today that a Twitter bug seems to be restoring previously deleted tweets and doing so in a random fashion. This site (NEWS-216) further recommends that if you're still one of those who has not left entirely and are currently now using the revised, recycled Musk version of Twitter media ... then you might want to re-check your account page and settings, etc ... and do it sooner rather than later.

We'll protect him if he does the right thing. Said one of the houses Democrats involved in the talks. The Democrat added that McCarthy himself has been briefed on the discussions. This is a weird thing to leak if you are one of these Democrats. This is not something you would want to do if you were trying to genuinely protect Kevin McCarthy. In fact, McCarthy's spokesperson said the speaker has never heard of this garbage, has zero interest in it, and thinks Democrats would be better off focusing on the jobs they were elected to do.'

May 14, 2023 - The Constitutional Sheriffs movement relies on a belief that county sheriffs have the power - and the duty - to make their own determinations about which laws to enforce and how to enforce them. It's not just enforcing laws and following the constitution - it also involves resisting laws, nullifying and refusing to enforce laws that a sheriff has deemed somehow unconstitutional. Whether used to oppose mask mandates or gun restrictions, voting laws or immigration policy, the so-called “constitutional sheriff” movement is an overt abuse of power. There is no constitutional basis to back up their theory of sheriff supremacy, first of all. But it’s also a sign of something bigger. It’s a twisted interpretation of the constitution in order to assume power and subvert the systems of our democracy.

May 3, 2023 - Democracy Now: Three conservative Supreme Court justices are now embroiled in a growing ethics scandal about their personal and financial connections. Recent reporting has revealed that Justice Neil Gorsuch sold property he co-owned to the head of a major law firm that has since had many cases before the court, Justice Clarence Thomas failed to disclose lavish gifts and payments from billionaire and conservative activist Harlan Crow, and the wife of Chief Justice John Roberts was paid over $10 million in commissions as a job recruiter placing lawyers at elite law firms. Legal experts and lawmakers are increasingly pushing for ethics reform on the high court, with the Senate Judiciary Committee holding a hearing on the issue on Tuesday. “Because they don’t have an ethics code, you don’t know whether they’re doing things in an above-board way,” says Vox senior correspondent Ian Millhiser. He also discusses growing frustration that California Senator Dianne Feinstein has not resigned her seat amid a prolonged absence from the Senate due to illness, which is stopping Democrats from confirming federal judges.
